lyrics

The windbreakers that grow along the highway
They don’t try to sell us anything
They’re just standing there as we pass by them
Grounded and tied to their roots

The drinks, the jokes, the faces and the music
Already just a fading memory
Become parables and conversations
To fill the silence of our lives

Dissonance and D-beat keeps pounding in my head
And block out the calm of a sleeping landscape
We’re few and far between, scattered all across the Earth
But our world's are connected through these songs
And if nothing else these trips serve to remind
No matter where I go I’ll belong to my tribe

We’re fed mythologies and paragons of virtue
Images of self we’re bound to break
Yeah, we’re all fucking weird without exception
And that might be the reason we're still here

'Cause perfect creatures don’t have a need to self-express
But we’re full of great ideas to make things better
Real things made by people have edges and have flaws
So jagged they will cut and leave a scar
If nothing else these trips serve to remind
That the world is full of things that are worth keeping alive

From below our necks we don’t feel a fucking thing
We forgot what makes us smile and want to sing
But in these lucid moments, clichés become profound
And I feel a brief connection to my heart
If nothing else these trips serve to remind
Of all of you at home I leave behind
If nothing else these trips serve to remind
To me it’s you that matter most, most of the time
